PRICE GOUGING, stay away from O’Leary’s in Leland. My son took his car there to get inspected. They failed it based on the shocks and the wiper switch lever on the column being broke, (wipers would still work). None of which is listed on the NC State Automotive inspection form. They quoted him $1127.00 to fix everything, and that they had financing available as well, if he needed it.
The maintenance on my 2004 VW Beetle has been on the back burner for a while. When my brake pads started grinding, I realized how stupid I had been for waiting so long to get maintenance on my car. We sent O'Leary's an email late at night as soon as I noticed this issue - as I knew it had to be adressed immediately. It is normally difficult to find anybody who can work on my car but, even more difficult to find somebody open and available, last minute, on a Saturday (Who you can trust; of course). Quentin called us first thing in the morning; letting us know that he knew how urgent our need for service was and explained to us that, regardless how full their schedule was, if we could make it over right away, they would be able to work on my car. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity (as I didn't have much of a choice; at this point) but, was worried I wouldn't get a fair price. Boy was I wrong. Quentin provided servive to us thoroughly and efficiently. He stayed in touch with us and provided us fair and accurate quotes on both time and cost. I am so thankful for his expeditious response and and willingness to go the extra mile for us. After pricing things out ourselves and getting quotes, it was clear to me that this business runs honestly and effectively. All of his quotes were nearly spot-on. Quentin not only explained the issues my car was experiencing but, showed us and walked us through the issues; somehow making us feel like we had his undivided attention but continuing to multi-task. The mechanic (Chris, I believe his name was) delivered on nearly all of Quentin's promises and, when I got my car back, I could tell it had been cared for properly; simply by the way it drove. While we knew the specific repairs and services we received were going to be of the expensive variety, he even fixed my driver's-side lock free-of-charge (Which they didn't even tell me and I didn't even realize until I got home). I am so impressed by the quality of work and customer service provided to me despite my abrupt plea for help with my vehicle and, while it is early to be declaring my car is in perfect condition, by the way my car was running (after the service alone), I can confidently say that me and my car were well taken care of. Thank you O'Leary's Automotive of Belville/Leland for your outstanding, meticulous, and expedient care.
Great service. I took my truck in for a tire repair as the indicator illuminated. I work in construction and tire repairs are a regular occurrence. When I arrived, I asked the guy at the desk how long it would take and he indicated it would be approximately 30 minutes and would be $16.00 if it could be repaired. Approximately 30 minutes later they handed me the keys, asked if the tire was giving me issues. He stated there wasn’t a repair needed and didn’t charge me at all.
I have read the other reviews on here and it is unfortunate that others simply don’t understand how businesses need to operate to stay in business. Perhaps they could buy the parts, tools, and education themselves and perform the tasks.
I run a business and I strive to have my employees act the way the O’Leary employees acted yesterday. I highly recommend this location.
Total quoted price for parts $618.61 from O’Leary’s. $326.91 at Advanced Auto using the part numbers given to me by O’Leary’s. That is a mark up of $291.70 for parts ALONE. Then they wanted to charge $412.99 for labor. I googled videos about how to do the work and my son and I did the work with parts from Advanced Auto in around 3 hours. That works out to be $137.66 an hour O’Leary’s was charging for labor. I am sure a trained mechanic in a garage with all the tools at their disposal could do it quite a bit faster.
Very open and honest about the repairs need on your vehicle. Very nice area to sit while waiting for your car.
Made an appointment for a simple oil change and an inspection, but they didn't start until 45 minutes later.
I am all for paying a fair price for an honest job but what they tried to do should be considered a crime.
